The Mary Hare Foundation, which runs the internationally renowned deaf school Mary Hare – received £1,500 from the Trust to fund eight Year 13 students for residential section of DofE Gold Award - an outdoor camping and canoe expedition.

It is very encouraging to have the support of a local grant maker and it has a really positive impact on the pupils who are able to get involved with local trainers, sports leaders and other Duke of Edinburgh participants. The grant helped us to buy vital equipment need in order to carry out the expeditions.”

 
 

A student who took the Duke of EdinburghAwards Scheme last year said “To me, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme has given me the confidence to do almost anything that I never thought I would be able to do. The 3 different sections allow you to learn new skills, learn new techniques, devote time to people, and contribute to everything around you and your environment.”
